About Amit Khanna
- Amit Khanna (born 1 March 1951) Amit Khanna is perhaps the only Media professional who has worked in every segment-Print, Radio, Television, Films, Stage, Live Entertainment and Digital media for five decades.
- He started his film career as an Executive Producer, writer and lyricist Actor-Filmmaker Dev Anand's NAVKETAN in 1971.
- He has written lyrics of 400 film & non-film songs including many all-time hits and dozen award-winning feature films scripts and documentaries.
- In the Eighties, he wrote, directed and produced many critically acclaimed films.
- Amit Khanna, set up PLUS Channel in 1989 which was India's first integrated media and entertainment company.
- In Plus he produced 11 feature films, over 3000 hours of original TV programming and made over 500 music albums in various genres and languages including many landmark films, TV shows .
- Plus also pioneered Audio books and Event Management besides running a Print News Syndicate.
- He was the Managing Director and Group Editor of PLUS Channel from 1989-2000. He also directed India's first music video with Nazia & Zoeb Hassan in 1984.
- In 1980, he produced his first feature film “MAN PASAND".
- In the Eighties, he wrote and directed critically acclaimed films "SHEESHAY KA GHAR" and "SHESH" and several documentaries.
- He was the Executive Producer of TV serial Buniyaad.

- Amit continues to write extensively on Cinema, Media, Technology and Popular Culture in various publications and online news sites. He is the past Chairman -, Entertainment & Convergence Committees of FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) and National Committee of Media & Entertainment of CII (Confederation of Indian Industry).
- He was the Member of – Prime Minister's Committee on Information, Communication & Entertainment (ICE in 2007), CII's Service Council and Advisory Board of the Forum d’Avignon, Paris.
- He was the President – Earth Communications Office (an Environment - NGO) for 15 years 91999-2014).
- He was also the President - All India Film Producers Council, Film & Television Producers Guild of India Ltd., for four terms and Vice President of Association of Motion Picture & TV Program Producers for 17 years and continues to be permanent member of the Council of Management of the Guild for life..
- He was the Founder - Trustee of Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image and the Mumbai Film Festival. He has been on the Governing Councils at the Jamia Millia Islamia Media Research Centre, and Film Institutes both in Pune & Kolkata, as well on Whistling Woods.
- He has been a Guest Lecturer at NYU, USC and other prestigious Institutions around the world.
- He was the first Indian to serve on the international Emmys Jury.

- Besides serving on various International, Government and Trade organizations and Institutions, he has won several awards including three National Awards for Films, Industry Leadership Award at Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (IFFLA), First Leadership Award at Indian Film Festival of Houston and a Lifetime Achievement Award for Television (UPTRON) and CMO Council Masterbrand, Lifetime Achievement Award 2010.
