  • Amy Austria-Ventura (born December 13, 1961, as Esmeralda Dizon Tuazon-Ventura) is a FAMAS and Gawad Urian Award-winning Filipino actress. Austria has starred in 70 films since 1976 in many of the Philippines' most acclaimed films.
  • A memorable role was in the film Brutal in 1980 as a shy and unassuming college coed, Monica, driven by her best friend, Cynthia (Gina Alajar) to a troubled marriage with a drug user Tato (Jay Ilagan).
  • Directed by Marilou Abaya, the film gave Amy Austria two best actress trophies - MMFF and Famas. Another notable performance came in 1988 with Carlos Caparas at the helm in the biopic of Celestina "Bubbles" Sanchez: Ativan Gang.
  • She was awarded the lead actress trophies from the MMFF, Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) and the Film Academy Philippines (FAP), which is now Luna Awards. Other important roles were Atsay in 1978, directed by Eddie Garcia; Jaguar in 1979, directed by Lino Brocka; and Hinugot sa Langit in 1985, directed by National Artist Ishmael Bernal. In 1982 she starred in the Lamberto Avellana magnum opus Waywaya, with Ace Vergel and Beth Bautista.
