  • Antoine Mattei (23 March 1917, in Scolca – 31 May 1981) was an officer of the French Foreign Legion made famous by the writings of Paul Bonnecarrère, who published in 1968 Par le sang versé (By the blood shed), the title refers to one of the ways a legionnaire obtains French nationlilty, and La guerre cruelle (The cruel war) in 1972, which also featured his exploits.
