About Bill White Shortstop

  • William Dighton White (May 1, 1860 – December 29, 1937), was a professional baseball player who was mainly a shortstop in the Major Leagues for nine seasons from 1879 to 1888.
  • During his Major League career, he played for three different franchises: the Pittsburgh Alleghenys in 1884, the Louisville Colonels from 1886 to 1888, and the St.
