- In addition to leading his own group, Stephens has performed extensively with Kenny Barron, Ambrose Akinmusire, Taylor Eigsti, Julian Lage, Eric Harland, Gerald Clayton, and other contemporaries.
- Stephens grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and attended Berkeley High School.
