- He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1987.
- He was selected twice to the first team All American team.
- Dick (Richie) Scott was selected first team All America in 1945, second team in 1946, then selected again to first team in 1947.
- Dick also earned varsity letters in Basketball and Lacrosse at The U.S.
- Naval Academy.
- Dick graduated from Highland Falls (NY) High School in 1942. Dick's older brother Tom Scott played End for Army under Hall of Fame Coach Earl (Red) Blaik.
- Tom went on to play for the Brooklyn Football Dodgers of the All America Football Conference.
- When a knee injury ended Tom's career, He was named Dodger Assistant coach and later became Head coach at the ripe age of 26.
