About Franco Citti

  • Franco Citti (Italian pronunciation: ['fra?ko 't?itti]; 23 April 1935 – 14 January 2016) was an Italian actor.
  • He came to fame at the age of 26, playing the title role in Pier Paolo Pasolini's film Accattone.
  • In 1967, he appeared in the title role in Pasolini's version of Oedipus Rex. He is perhaps best known to non-Italian audiences as Calò in The Godfather and The Godfather: Part III and uttering the line "In Sicily, women are more dangerous than shotguns." His brother was the director and screenwriter Sergio Citti.He died in Rome on 14 January 2016, at the age of 80.
