  • George Seefurth Elrick (October 7, 1921 – December 29, 1997) George was raised in Evanston, IL, in a 2-story flat near Lake Michigan.
  • He was an only child, and it didn't take him long to develop an aptitude for reading and writing.
  • He attended Northwestern University from 1939 to 1943, and graduated with a bachelor's degree in English.
  • Soon after, during WWII, he entered the US Army, and was a columnist for "Stars and Stripes" a war time newspaper.
  • He later married Marilyn Jean Wharton on January 11, 1947, and moved into a Georgian style house in Glenview.
  • They had 2 children, Michael and Bruce.
  • In the mid 50's, he was employed by the Jacoby Advertising Agency as a Writer.
  • In the 60's, he was employed by Wilding Studios, and wrote television scrips for the Wild Kingdom series.
  • In the mid 60's, he wrote storybooks and maps for the "General Whitman's Adventure" series.
  • He was also the author of dozens of children's books from the Whitman "Big Little Books" series from the mid 60's until the early 80's.
  • Towards the end of his career, he even wrote a science fiction handbook that was a tutorial used in some college courses.
