- Richard Arthur Lutz (born June 8, 1949) is an American marine biologist and deep-sea oceanographer.
- He is known for deep-sea research using the Alvin submersible, and is considered one of the world's foremost authorities on the ecology of deep-sea hydrothermal vents.Lutz is the director of Rutgers University's Institute of Marine and Coastal Sciences, the fourth best oceanographic institution in the world.
