  • He served as the first chief justice of the Florida Supreme Court. Douglas was born in 1790 in Wallingford, Connecticut, in New Haven County.

  • District Attorney for the Eastern District of Florida from 1826 to 1842.
  • He served on the Florida State Supreme Court from 1846 to 1850 and again from 1854 to 1855.

  • He married Hannah Sanford September 26, 1814.
