- He was of Czech, Hungarian and Slovenian origin.
- His father, Antal Wnoucsek, moved from Pécs to Rijeka, where he married Anna Maria Rostand, a girl from a French-Slovenian family. His first work was done during the time of Italian sovereignty of Rijeka before the second World War.
