An Emeritus Artist of the Russian Federation at the time of her death, Gornostayeva was a graduate of the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, where her teacher was Heinrich Neuhaus.In addition to her performing career, Gornostaeva was a professor at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory.
